Ch.34 Behind the Curtain

Comic, The Great Barley and Bay-Lily Circus
May 19, 2020

SLLRP, the creature eats. The jackalope has the same ghostly green glow as the fox ringleaders. Flowers drip from its maw.

"Barley, sweet, this old meat is not a feast." Bay-Lily complains, turning to her sister who is an indistinguishable blob of vine, fungi, and insect wings. Barley is holding a jackalope pelt.

Barley puts on the pelt with a GRGLE, her true form fitting into its parameters.

"We're lucky at all to fill our Jaws!" Barley scolds Bay-Lily. "Though I must admit...I do lament our loss of nourishment."

"Oh! that girl pleased the palate! Her spirit, nutritious, was quite delicious!" Bay-Lily says. "...And auspicious" Barley, now fully within the jackalope disguise, adds.

Barley floats over to put her ringleader uniform on. "No meal has EVER woken from our spell. There's something specia, I can tell."

Barley puts her outfit on. "I gather MOTHER saw it too. So enthralled, she ignored me and you."

"Let's bide our time, hunt, survive... Onve we're strong and needn't scurry—"

"We'll return for Gemini Journey." It is revealed the circus is set up in a new alleyway somewhere in the city.
