Ch.11: The B word is Blueberries

Veil, begins eating the pancakes he previously snatched away from Gemini. A frown still on his face. "huh? I don't remember that. I must've been so tired", Gemini replies. "I do remember ditching you though...", she admits.

"And I'm Sorry", Gemini apologises. Despite himself, Veil is happy to hear it, if a bit surprised. A small blush tints his cheeks.

"Are these blueberries?", Veil asks while looking at the pancakes. "Uh-huh! Your favorite." Gemini admits. She places her hands behind her back, fiddling with her fingers nervously. "How would you...?", Veil questions.

"Veil, of course I know your favorite flavor. We're friends." Gemini points out.

Veil stares at her quietly as his face flushes, frozen in mid-bite.

Veil sighs, then continues to eat. "I'm glad you're safe.", he admits between bites.

Moments pass and Veil and Gemini have moved from the kitchen to a communal living room. Veil has largely finished his plate, leaving only the manticore shaped pancake. "So -- I don't know, Veil", Gemini tries to explain what she remembers from the previous night.

"It was some B-word circus... but not that b-word.", she continues. "Hmm, blueberries?", Veil jokes.

"Nooooo..." Gemini plays along, encouraged to say the silent part aloud, before proceeding to name inapporpiate b-words, with a coy smile and flush. "G--Gemini!", Veil interrupts.

"Okay Okay!", Gemini laughs before taking a fork to her own breakfast. Veil frowns disapprovingly. "So it just like, appeared in the alleyway", Gemini continues. "It was fun."

Veil clasps his hands together. "Ah! Speaking of fun, I organized your applications from greatest to least priority!".

Still smiling, Veil continues, "I've also filed out the flower shop application and photocopied it -- You are looking forward to the ...". "Wait! Wait! Wait!" Gemini interupts. "You said 'speaking of fun'?"

Veil ignores Gemini, "Have you called the Argonauts?" "You've more applications to fill" "And interviews this week". Gemini weakly acknowledges with the occasional "uh-huh's" and "okays".

"Have you researched salary ranges and negotiation tactics? How about spell -and curse- checked your cover letters? What about multiple resumes? Practiced blood pact rituals?", Veil continues to add tasks and throw questions at Gemini, and she quickly becomes almost suffocated under the anxiety it induces. "Have you researched for those interviews?", Veil questions.

"YEP! Ok!" Gemini interjects, waving her arms frantically.

"We can fill your next application, together", Veil tries to push forward, before Gemini places a finger over his lips in an attempt to get him to pause. He blushes from the personal contact, but quiets. "Um. Yeah. I'll do that myself today.", Gemini says shakenly.

She smiles at Veil. "I got this.", she says softly.
