Ch.31 Fight or Flight

Comic, The Great Barley and Bay-Lily Circus
April 7, 2020

Barley HISSES, her vines recoil from the eye's light and free Veil as well.

"Is this what you're afraid of?" Gemini says to Barley.

Bay-Lily leaps from the magenta light spilling through the circus tent.

Bay-Lily crouches in shadow.

"The eye?" Gemini asks, bathed in the magenta glow.

"That's why you hide! It's looking for you, isn't it?" She says to Barley, who is now hiding behind the torn tarp next to Gemini, in shadow.

"We..." Barley starts.

"We left her a long time ago..." Barley explains. The eye bares down on the tent.

"And you don't wanna go back!" Gemini responds.

"But you aren't doing so good on your own, so you manipulate and hurt others to get by!"

"You promise everything...you promised ME everything, but really, only you two get anything out of it!"

"We were scared and hurt... and that's easy prey for you."

"Well i'm done dancing to your tune!"

"I'll fight for every second I have! So come out and be seen!" Gemini pushes on the tarp, threatening to expose Barley to the eye's gaze.

"Barley, sweet, we MUST go. Leave the meat." Bay-Lily says.

"FINE!" Barley huffs, "But we kept to our deal...your success FELT real."

"Dove, you shone, free from trouble — yet from US you struggle?" Barley hisses, "Bear in mind our bite is softer, than the strife the world will offer."

Barley coils into herself, turning into a vortex where she sucks in the magic and debris of the circus.

The force of Barley's pull threatens to suck Gemini in, too.

GRAB

Veil grabs Gemini's arm, anchoring her.

Barley and Bay-Lily disappear into their vortex with a VOIP.

BOOF. The release of air causes a push-back.

VWOOSH! The push-back spills out of the deflating circus tent.

Gemini looks to the upper right.

She stares at the Serprent's eye which stares back at her.

Veil and Gemini are still floating in the air as the magic dissipates. "Did we—Are we sa—" She starts

"Saaafe!" Gemini screams as gravity returns.
