Ch.19 A Push Too Far

Comic, The Great Barley and Bay-Lily Circus
January 8, 2019

Recap

"Gemini, we NEED to leave." Veil grabs Gemini by the shoulders as he looks uneasily towards the direction of the circus audience. He begins to push her by the shoulders. "GeMiNi, We NeEd To GeT gOiNg," Gemini darkly mocks him.

"What do YOU care!?" She exclaims. Veil's attention is still towards the audience. "We are friends." he replies without pause.

"Stop pushing me!!" Gemini shouts, yanking her shoulder from Veil's grasp.

"I don't even want a stupid job anymore!" Gemini exclaims. She advances on Veil, backing him towards the circus ring. Her circus outfit transforms onto her. Veil holds his hands up defensively.

"I need this, Mr... Perfect, PUSHY Veil Taffeta!" Her speech bubbles turns black. The circus ring blocks are shown in detail, they feature red toadstool mushrooms painted on them.

"You know some people turned me down because my name was TOO weird for them!?" Her black word balloon loops around a poster of her act outside the circus tent that reads: "B&B Proudly Present: Gemini Journey". The tail of the word balloon wraps around the poster illustration's neck.

"At least here the crowd can see something ine me-- can actually see ME!" The crowd looks onward. They are the same creatures from Gemini's first entrance to the circus a few nights ago— the three-eyed woman, the orc, the wolf, the dullahan, etc. They all seem expressionless.

"It's the only place I am successful--" Gemini's eyes ring with green magic. She gets in Veil's face, as Veil defensively crosses his arms.

"And Posed--" Her circus outfit stockings and shoes transform onto her legs and feet. She steps forward into Veil's space, causing him to step back.

"And balanced---" The shoes transforming on her, Gemini walks on pointe. Veil's heels bump against the circus ring blocks.

"--And you're not gonna take it from me!!" She yells in Veils face, her words black and swirling with green magic.

"And I..." Gemini's word balloon lightens a bit, as her expression softens into a small blush. She stands on pointe on one foot right up against Veil, their bodies pushed together as Veil leans back.

"Aeeeeiiii!" Gemini loses her focus, and consequently her balance. She accidentally pushes Veil with her body.

Veil falls into the circus ring.

Gemini lands just outside of the ring on her hands and knees. In an instant POOF her circus outfit disappears, and she is herself again.

"Veil!" She gasps. The green magic that had been around her eyes breaks away.
